Honor Flight this November

Wednesday, September 28th County Executive Debbie Preston joined Twin Tiers Honor Flight’s Nancy Kane, Broome County Legislators, Commissioner of Aviation David Hickling, Sponsors (Maines Paper and Food Service, Magic City Music Hall, Weis Markets, McGirk’s Irish Pub and Uno’s Grill) and more to announce the second Honor Flight that will depart from The Greater Binghamton Airport November 12th 2016.

Local World War II, Korean War, Vietnam Veterans, as well as terminally ill veterans who served their country, will be flown to Washington, D.C., free of charge to visit and reflect at their memorials in our nation’s capital. Guardians fly with the Veterans to provide assistance and to help the Veterans have a safe, memorable and rewarding experience. The flight this November will take off from Hangar 1 at BGM and will return at 8:30pm that evening. We welcome the entire community to be there when these Veterans return for our homecoming to thank them for their dedication and service to our Country.

The Honor Flight is a chance to honor the sacrifices of our Veterans to whom we owe so much.

“We who were born in the World War II Era, (too young to participate) remember the huge effort these gallant men, women and their families made to preserve freedom for our Nation, in that war and the ones to follow. I am delighted to be part of the announcement of this gift of our hearts to them. This Honor Flight is in gratitude for their service and, is a dedication to them as they reflect on the huge gift they gave all of us.” -Ron Heebner Broome County Legislator
