BGM is NOT facing an impending closure!

Dear BGM Supporter:

Over the weekend, some of our local media outlets erroneously reported BGM Airport is faced with impending closure due to the Federal “sequestration” crisis.

I want to assure you that BGM is not facing an impending closure.

The origin of this story came from a letter issued by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation. In this letter, Secretary LaHood painted a worst case
scenario that identified 160 air traffic control towers that could be impacted if sequestration cuts went into effect.

The Air Traffic Control Tower at BGM was one of those facilities identified for possible impact. However, even if BGM’s Tower was closed, which is unlikely, we would remain open and operational for commercial and private air travel.

We will continue to monitor this situation and keep you apprised of any changes. Thank you for your continued support of BGM.
